Accessible Professional Dance Education and Performance

MNIDF began in 2023, with the first festival bringing together emerging Twin Cities artists and international dance instructors and choreographers for a week of  community exchange through workshops and performances.

Each year the festival features a different  guest country to promote cultural diversity and exchange. This program welcomes participants from all  backgrounds, levels of dance experience, and movement abilities to engage with dance.

Ecuador guest country!

MNIDF 2026 Ecuador Workshops will be held at the Center for Performing Arts, Monday September, 28th through Friday October 2nd, from 10 am to 3 pm.
MNIDF 2026 Ecuador Performance will be held at The Southern Theatre on Friday October 2nd and Saturday October 3rd.

MNIDF 2023 Mexico

Pilot Program

In October 17th, 2023, Dance Projects by ME launched the Minnesota International Dance Festival Pilot presenting Mexico as the guest country! With the support of Northrop and the Institute of Advanced Study at the University of Minnesota, MNIDF brings together emerging Twin Cities artists and international dance instructors and choreographers for a week of community exchange through workshops and performances.

MNIDF 2024 Cambodia

In October 21st, 2024, Dance Projects by ME opens the second annual Minnesota International Dance Festival, bringing together international dance instructors, choreographers, and emerging Twin Cities artists for a week of community exchange through workshops and performances. Each year the festival features a different guest country to promote cultural diversity and community exchange. This year MNIDF welcomes Cambodia as the special guest!

This year’s festival week features workshops by the cambodian artist Chummeng Soun, Peter Veth, and Rosa Lay, and Garret Sour, Minnesota-based emerging artist and principal dancer of Wattanak Dance Troupe. The festival will conclude with the vibrant performance “Confluence” featuring performances by Wattanak Dance Troupe, Roza Lay, Urban Khmer Ballet, and Crash Dance.

This engagement is supported by the Arts Midwest GIG Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
